Bacteria counts in Beaty Creek
 |
The following graphs describe measurements of two types of bacteria for the Beaty Creek
watershed in northeast Oklahoma before (pre) and after (post) implementation of a
program of landowner education and best management practices to reduce contamination by animal waste.
The "pre" measurement period goes from August 1999 to January 2001.
The "post" measurement period goes from July 2001 to May 2005.
The red line in each graph shows the geometric mean above which the bacterial
counts are too high for beneficial use.
That is, authorities can declare the water okay if the geometric mean of the data is
less than the red value. The annotations on the graphs show the geometric mean of the actual data.
